The Denton Journal, a daily paper printed in Caroline County, Maryland; provided information for mid-shore residents on the local, regional and national news, 1888, 1890, 1899, and 1913. The four newspapers in this collection reflect the thoughts and ideas of the mid-shore residents, and includes advertisements for local and regional stores. Some of the topics include livestock sales, politics, death and marriage notices, as well as agriculture and social news.

Edward Hammond collection

The Edward Hammond collection contains a photograph copy of Dr. John Taylor Hammond (1831-1902), two Agricultural Mutual Aid Society of Caroline County, MD certificates for John Hammond and his wife, Esther P. dated December 1, 1887, a narrative by J. Millard Tawes at the First Annual Verrazzano Festival in 1972, and a dance card with pencil attached from 1888. The holiday dance was held by the Thursday Club at Victor Hall in Snow Hill.

Michael Owen Bourne papers

This collection contains research notes, surveys, hand-drawn blueprints and photographs created by architectural historian Michael Owen Bourne for historic home renovations between 1960 and 2020. His projects were mainly on the Eastern Shores of Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia; however, there are some materials from projects in St. Mary’s County, Maryland and one project in Texas. The majority of the collection dates from 1968 to 2009 and the materials range from his time working for the Historical Maryland Trust (1967-1973 and 1995-2000), as well as his own company, Preservation Inc. (1973-1995), and the Department of Architectural Research at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (2000-2003). Bourne's architectural papers related to Kent County, Maryland are located at the Historical Society of Kent County (the Nabb Center collection includes papers for all projects located outside of Kent County, Maryland).
